eCHN Privacy & Security
The electronic Child Health Network (eCHN) is a not-for profit, government funded program, dedicated to using modern technology to promote the sharing of paediatric health care data, information and knowledge among health care providers. It is designed to provide the appropriate infrastructure to enable sharing of paediatric health records in support of children's health services in Ontario.
In order to facilitate their mandate, eCHN operates under the authority of the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004. As an "agent" and "Health Information Network Provider" for the health information custodians who contribute data to the eCHN repository, eCHN understands the importance of ensuring the privacy of the personal health information it maintains.
eCHN is committed to respecting personal privacy, safeguarding confidential information, and managing the security of the personal health information within our data repository. We meet this commitment through an extensive Privacy & Security Program, which builds privacy controls into operational processes, as well as ensures privacy best practices are included in all new initiatives that eCHN undertakes.
